Jobs

Junior copywriter’s work alongside an experienced copywriter to help produce and support everyday copywriting needs, such as editing and proof reading. The position at twenty-six digital involves working on various campaigns at a time, from blogs, press releases and tweets. The advertisement states they’re looking for highly organisedpeople, whom already possess 1-year experience within the industry. It would also be good if the candidate possess ‘experience of writing for different digital channels and audiences’ and ‘happy to liaise directly with clients.’

Art directors are responsible for the visual style and images in magazines, newspapers, product packaging and television and film productions. The opening of this job advertisement bullet points a list of transferable and specialist skills amazon see desirable, whilst explaining what they require from an ideal candidate. Transferable skills include, detail-orientated and being creative, whereas excellent working knowledge of illustrator and adobe software are specialist skills.

The photographer required for this role will be self-employed, focusing on car and product photography, oncetheir application is successful. The advertisement is small, stating transferable skills; commitment and drive. However, the company require specialist skills also such as obtaining a full UK driving license. The role is advertised as self-employed, the applicant could also produce a relevant up to date portfolio or recent work and references.

On the other hand, this is another photographer role being advertised. However, this is focusing their specialised skills on a different subject. The role for Boohoo agency requiresexperienceof the photography industry to photograph models. The successful applicant will clean and set up equipment whilst working with the studio manager working to tight deadlines. Successful applicants will be employed by the agency fulltime.

Amazon role assessed

The Amazon art director advertisement appeals to me. The advertisement states numerous skills required for the role. For example, “excellent working knowledge of photo shop” and software is essential also ‘visual design skills’ and ‘interactive advertising solutions’ skills are requirements.

Time management is a priority transferable skill to possess when applying for this role, due to the responsibility to have to multi task and meet tight deadlines. Specialist skills are needed, such as a degree or some other professional qualification. As a conclusion I think it is necessary to possess a good background within the industry and a good mix of transferable and specialist skills to stand out and obtain the role.

I created a PDP at the beginning of the term, I wrote personal objectives for the term. Comparing my PDP objectives to the skills required for the advertisement role, I detect comparison. One of my objectives is to be more strategic, the role requires good communication strategies as a transferable skill, so this is something I will work on. Photoshop is also upon the comparisons along with planning and working independently.

PDP

I’m working towards my goal of perusing a career in the creative and digital industries, the job that appeals to me the most is the art director role due to the high demand in creativity and responsibilities. Alongside this I would also like to develop more time to study; to improve my literacy and numeracy skills, I would also like to further my knowledge of the advertising sector. Hopefully I can secure a position within the industry by 30/10/19.

My main priority is to secure a career, to do this I need to work towards my other objectives such as gaining advanced knowledge on photo shop and illustrator turning them into specialist skills, constantly recording my work to organiseinto a portfolio for the employment. One of my strengths is presenting work, I can practice this within the portfolio. The role evidently requires good time management skills, proposed by the fact the role requires the candidate to ‘independently lead campaign executions.’ I will perfect my time management skills by producing a timetable containing improvement to my usual routine to accommodate my objectives.

*Highlighted text is to show where I have made changes to my week to incorporate more study time.

I will work through different online tutorials and receive help from tutors to further my knowledge and complete objectives. I have created a PDP document to show how I will utilisethe skills from the advert (highlighted text). I am going to measure my progress in blog entry’s and utilize my findings every month to create a new enhanced personal development plan. Hopefully with the result of securing a career in the creative industries.
